Allred Statement on News LNG Pause Will Last Less Than A Year

DALLAS – Congressman Colin Allred today released the following statement after U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm stated that the Administration’s pause on new and pending liquified natural gas (LNG) exports will end within a year.

“I will always support Texas energy, and we must take an all-of-the-above approach to maintaining our energy independence, creating jobs and protecting the planet. Though this guidance should have come sooner, I’m glad it makes clear that this pause on new and pending LNG exports is not a ban,” said Allred. “I again urge the Administration to utilize our domestic LNG supply to both fortify our allies in Europe so they don’t have to rely on Russian gas, to reduce emissions as the global energy supply shifts away from coal and to support thousands of Texas jobs.”

Allred joined his colleagues after the pause on new LNG exports was announced in urging the Administration to refocus policies that support LNG exports.
