Allred Earns Endorsement of Planned Parenthood Action Fund

DALLAS – Congressman Colin Allred today announced that he earned the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

“Our freedoms are under attack in Texas, like the freedom to get the health care you need, including an abortion,” said Allred. “Women shouldn’t have to flee our state to access lifesaving care, and that’s why I am proud to earn the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. I am honored to work alongside them to restore the freedoms and rights of Texas women, and ensure that they make their own decisions about their health care – not extreme politicians like Ted Cruz.”

“Now more than ever, Texans need leaders who will protect their freedoms, their rights and their health care. Congressman Allred is that leader,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Ted Cruz praised the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which then left Texans under one of the most extreme and harmful abortion bans in the country. He is one of the most extreme opponents of reproductive rights in Congress, and supports a national abortion ban. Texans simply cannot afford six more years of Ted Cruz. Planned Parenthood Action Fund will fight to elect Congressman Allred and give Texans the Senator they deserve.”

After calling the Dobbs decision a “massive victory” and fighting for years to implement a national ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother, Texans are going to hold Ted Cruz accountable for the impact his actions have had on women across Texas.

Planned Parenthood Action Fund joins the Texas AFL-CIO, the Human Rights Campaign, the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, the College Democrats of America, the League of Conservation Voters, End Citizens United // Let America Vote and other organizations in supporting Allred’s candidacy.

He has also earned the backing of a broad coalition of leaders from across Texas including Congressmembers Veronica Escobar, Joaquin Castro, Lizzie Fletcher and Marc Veasey, State Senators César Blanco, José Menéndez, Carol Alvarado and Royce West, as well as local leaders including El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, and Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis.
