Ahead of Tomorrow’s Deadline to Enroll in ACA Marketplace, Allred Urges Texans to Get Covered

Dallas, TX — With the deadline to enroll for coverage through the ACA Marketplace being tomorrow for coverage beginning on Jan. 1, 2024, Congressman Colin Allred released the following statement:

“Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the nation and too often Texas families are forced to choose between getting the care they need and paying their bills. I urge Texans to get covered by enrolling at HealthCare.gov today.

“Unlike Ted Cruz, who wants to repeal the ACA and rip coverage from millions of Texans, when I am in the Senate, I will continue fighting to build upon the ACA and lower costs to make quality health care accessible and affordable for all Texans.”

The Affordable Care Act protects health care access for the 5 million Texans living with pre-existing conditions and provides insurance coverage for nearly 2.5 million Texans.

Allred has long championed measures to strengthen and build upon the ACA, including by lowering insurance premiums, bringing down the cost of prescription drugs, and capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month for patients on Medicare. Ted Cruz has tried for years to dismantle the ACA – and just last month reiterated his desire to do so.
