Statewide Momentum Continues to Build Behind Allred
Dallas, TX — Leaders from across the state are touting Colin Allred as the strongest candidate to take on Ted Cruz and the best person to serve Texas in the Senate, noting his ability to bridge divides to bring home big wins for Texas. Today Allred is announcing new endorsements from State Rep. Sheryl Cole, former candidate for Lieutenant Governor Mike Collier, and former Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector Cecelia Burke.
“I’m so proud to receive the support of so many leaders from across Texas,” Allred said. “Rep. Sheryl Cole, Mike Collier and Cecelia Burke all know Texas and their individual communities and I’m honored that they trust me to fight for our state in the Senate. Together, we’re going to beat Ted Cruz and give Texas the leadership we need.”
“Families in historic East Austin, Pflugerville, and Manor, are sick of Ted Cruz and his culture wars and political stunts,” said State Rep. Sheryl Cole. “They just want good-paying jobs, safe communities, good schools for their kids, and affordable health care. I support Congressman Allred because he’s proven that he can deliver for the folks in my district on the issues that matter most.”
“Be it Democrats or Republicans, businesses or labor communities, Congressman Allred has shown he can bring folks together to get things done. He will be a unifying leader for Texas in the Senate and that’s why I am proud to endorse him,” said former candidate for Lt. Gov. Mike Collier.
“Travis County needs a Senator who cares about Texas, not their podcast or petty partisan interests,” said former Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector Cecelia Burke, who was the first woman elected to this position. “Congressman Allred has had a remarkable record in Congress delivering for our state, and that’s why I am proud to support him. I cannot wait to see how he’ll help Texas thrive when he is in the Senate.”
Last week, Allred was endorsed by Houston Mayor Emeritus Sylvester Turner and Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price, as well as Democratic clubs in Houston and Dallas.
“As Mayor, I saw firsthand the issues Houston families are facing and what they need from their elected representatives,” Mayor Emeritus Turner said. That’s why I am proud to endorse Colin Allred for Senate because he’s focused on addressing the needs of all Texans like improving our infrastructure and lowering health care costs. He’s a uniter who delivers for Texas, and a leader Houstonians can be proud of.”
“Colin Allred’s work in Congress speaks for itself, he has delivered for our community,” Commissioner Price said. “He played an integral role in securing funds that have helped us begin to service our community, from infrastructure money to the CHIPs Act and working to develop the inland port in southern Dallas County. I’m proud to endorse Congressman Allred and look forward to doing everything I can to make him Texas’s first Black Senator.”
Allred has also been endorsed by Congressmembers Veronica Escobar, Lizzie Fletcher and Marc Veasey; Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins and Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis; State Senator Cesar Blanco and State Representatives Chris Turner, Rhetta Bowers, Toni Rose, and Venton Jones; former State Senator Wendy Davis and TX-15 congressional candidate Michelle Vallejo; and many other Texas leaders and organizations.
