ICYMI: Allred Continues Historic Momentum, Outraises Cruz For Second Straight Quarter
Dallas, TX — Having significantly outraised Ted Cruz for the second straight quarter, momentum continues to build behind Colin Allred’s campaign to defeat Ted Cruz. Allred posted historic Q3 fundraising numbers, ending the quarter having raised $4.7 million, over $1.6 million dollars more than Cruz, from a whopping 80,000 individual grassroots donors – more than double Cruz’s 34,000. Allred also has a large cash-on-hand advantage with $7.9 million in the bank: over $2.1 million more than Cruz.
With two quarters in a row of lackluster fundraising – and zero bipartisan deliverables for his constituents – it’s clear that Texans can’t afford six more years of Ted Cruz.
Key clips you might have missed:
San Antonio Current: Colin Allred raises more money than Ted Cruz as he looks to unseat the senator
- “During his three terms in the U.S. House, U.S. Congressman Colin Allred established himself as a strong fundraiser. New federal filings suggest the North Texas Democrat is in little danger of losing that rep as he campaigns to unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.”
The Dallas Morning News: Allred blows past Gutierrez 20-1 in donations as Texas Democrats try to unseat Cruz
- “Dallas U.S. Rep. Colin Allred has emerged as the runaway favorite of Democratic donors aiming to topple Sen. Ted Cruz. Allred now has nearly a 20-1 edge over [his next closest competitor].”
Newsweek: Ted Cruz Is Being Financially Trumped by His Opponent

Corpus Christi Caller Times: Democrat Colin Allred outraises Republican Ted Cruz this year ahead of US Senate primaries
- “Matt Angle, a veteran Texas Democratic operative, said early fundraising success is crucial, especially for candidates still trying to introduce themselves to a voting pool as large as Texas. ‘It’s not the only metric, but it’s the most important metric at this point,’ Angle said, noting that Allred is off to a commanding advantage.”
Allred’s lopsided fundraising victory and massive Q3 haul was also featured in the Texas Tribune, NBC News, POLITICO, Roll Call, The Daily Beast, and more.
It’s clear why the momentum is on Allred’s side: since he launched his campaign, Texans know he will deliver the fresh ideas and new leadership we need in the Senate. These qualities were highlighted in a profile in last Sunday’s edition of the Amarillo Globe News – as well as a Dallas Morning News feature announcing that, thanks in part to Allred’s bipartisan efforts, a hub for the $2.5 billion federal ARPA-H initiative would be coming to Dallas.
The momentum of this quarter’s fundraising victory comes after Allred also defeated Cruz in fundraising by nearly $2 million in Q2 as well – along with having earned endorsements from Reps. Veronica Escobar, Lizzie Fletcher, and Marc Veasey; Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins and Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis; State Senator César Blanco of El Paso and State Rep. Chris Turner of Arlington; congressional candidate Michelle Vallejo and former State Senator Wendy Davis; and numerous other state and local leaders.
In addition, since his campaign launch, Allred has earned the support of organizations including the League of Conservation Voters, the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, Foreign Policy for America, American Federation of Government Employees, and End Citizens United // Let America Vote.
