Following Weekend Campaigning in Houston, Allred Earns the Endorsement of State Rep. Senfronia Thompson
Houston, TX – After a weekend of campaign stops in Houston, Congressman Colin Allred announced that he has earned the endorsement of Houston State Representative and Dean of Women Legislators, Senfronia Thompson. Rep. Thompson is the longest serving African-American and woman in Texas history.
“Representative Thompson is a Texas legend, not only because of the barriers she has broken during her service, but because of her work to deliver for our state. Her effectiveness is unparalleled and I am inspired by her work to ensure Texas and our country live up to our founding promise,” said Allred. “I’m honored to earn her endorsement and look forward to partnering with her to continue making things better for Texans.”
Statement from Representative Senfronia Thompson
“Throughout my time in the State House, I have been effective because I have reached across the aisle to get things done. I see that same spirit reflected in Colin Allred’s work in Congress and that is why I am proud to endorse him. As the first Black Senator from Texas, he will make us all proud and inspire the next generation of Texans to serve our state and chase their dreams.”
Representative Thompson joins other Houston-area leaders who are backing Allred including Mayor Emeritus Sylvester Turner, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher, Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Controller Chris Hollins.
While in Houston, Allred had the honor to worship and speak with the congregations of the Church Without Walls and Fallbrook Church. He also sat down with KHOU to discuss why he is the best person to beat Ted Cruz and begin serving Texans on day one.
