Dallas, TX — Today, Congressman Colin Allred announced that he has earned the endorsements of a broad coalition of leaders across Texas in his race for the U.S. Senate against Ted Cruz.

- Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins
- Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis
- McLennan County Commissioner Patricia Chisholm-Miller
- Dallas County Commissioner Andrew Sommerman
- Cameron County Clerk Sylvia Garza-Perez
- State Representative Rhetta Bowers
- State Representative Toni Rose
- State Representative Venton Jones
- Fort Worth City Councilman Jared Williams
- Austin City Councilman Zohaib “Zo” Qadri
- Dallas City Councilman Adam Bazaldua

- Former Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings
- Former Dallas Mayor and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk
- Former Congressman Chet Edwards
- Former Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins
- Former Dallas ISD Trustee Miguel Solis
- Former Ambassador Lyndon Olson
These Texas leaders join the likes of Congressmembers Veronica Escobar, Lizzie Fletcher and Marc Veasey, as well as State Senator Cesar Blanco, State Representative Chris Turner, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), and others in throwing their early support behind Colin Allred.
“I’m honored to have earned endorsements from this broad, diverse coalition of Texas leaders,” said Congressman Allred. “These individuals have represented Texans from North Texas to the Rio Grande Valley, and they know the issues Texas families are dealing with at their dinner tables – like being able to afford quality health care and finding good-paying jobs. In the Senate, I’ll build on their decades of bipartisan work to continue helping everyday Texas families thrive.”
Statement from Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins:
“Congressman Allred has been a leader in Congress and has delivered for North Texas from day one. He is the right choice to beat Ted Cruz and give Texans the representation we deserve in the Senate. From bringing a VA hospital to Garland to securing billions of dollars in investment in our state, Dallas County and counties across Texas, are stronger because of his leadership and I’m proud to endorse his campaign.”
Statement from Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis
“From the Texas Senate to the Harris County government, I’ve been blessed to work in public service on behalf of Texans for decades — and I’ve worked to advance civil and voting rights in our state, access to quality health care for all Texans, the ability for all young Texans to get a good education, and more. It’s time for us to have a Senator who also shares those values. As we look to bring Texans the statewide leadership we deserve, I know that Colin Allred is the best candidate to not only win, but also be a Senator who will make us proud and get things done.”
Statement from Austin City Councilman Zohaib “Zo” Qadri:
“Congressman Allred has been a dedicated champion for Texas communities in Washington, D.C. He’s worked to expand access to benefits for veterans, ensure our unions receive fair working conditions, and been committed to putting Texans first. Texans have been left behind by politicians in Washington who spend their time podcasting and engaging in culture wars — then head to Cancun while the rest of us are freezing. Underserved communities throughout Texas deserve someone in their corner, committed to bipartisan solutions that help give hardworking families a fair shot at their American Dream. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Congressman Allred for Senate and I look forward to helping him defeat Ted Cruz next November.”
In addition to the endorsements named above, Allred has also earned the support of former State Senator Wendy Davis and congressional candidate Michelle Vallejo; as well as organizations including the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, Foreign Policy for America, and End Citizens United // Let America Vote.
