Allred Launches Tejanos for Allred
DALLAS – On Wednesday, Congressman Colin Allred announced the launch of the Tejanos for Allred coalition with a kickoff organizing call alongside co-chairs and Texas leaders. The launch for Tejanos for Allred comes during National Hispanic Heritage Month and as a new poll from UnidosUS shows Allred leading Cruz by 20 points with Latino voters in Texas.
As part of his work to build a broad coalition to win, Allred has launched Women for Allred, Black Texans for Allred, and now, Tejanos for Allred. This builds on Allred’s work to launch the Texas Offense, Democrats’ first statewide coordinated campaign in more than 20 years.
“We have in Colin a senate candidate that can beat Ted Cruz in the November election…” said Congressman Joaquin Castro. “We have a senate candidate of incredible integrity and character and also somebody who will make sure that Texas and the United States are places of opportunity for Latinos and for all Americans.”
“I’m the proud mom of three little Latinas and I wholeheartedly support Congressman Colin Allred. I cannot wait to call him the next senator of Texas”… said Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones “I believe all of our children deserve to grow up in a Texas that has a senator like Colin. A senator who will actually fight for working people.”
“This is about a potential new future for Texas,” said Congressman Greg Casar. “One where you can afford to live in Texas, where you’re paid a decent wage, where you know your social security and retirement are being protected, where the price of prescription drugs comes down, where our civil rights are expanded instead of taken away. That’s the future we can win by sending Colin Allred to the United States Senate and that’s our choice as Texans this coming November.”
“I know real Texas leadership when I see it and that’s Colin Allred,” said Kristian Carranza, Candidate for Texas House of Representatives. “Representative Allred is fighting for freedom against someone like Ted Cruz who has proven that he only wants to take us backward. Rep. Allred has done the work to lower costs for Texas families, he’s worked to cap the cost of insulin at 35 dollars and as someone with several family members with diabetes, the work that Rep. Allred is doing is huge.”
“Latinos are in this fight. Latinos are ready to take the power into our own hands but it really comes down to people showing up to the polls and making that change,” said Michelle Vallejo, Candidate for Congress. “I am so proud to be supporting my friend Congressman Colin Allred, somebody who I know has never turned his back to his district, to the people of Texas, and specifically to the people of South Texas.”
Tejanos for Allred will be co-chaired by:
- Congressman Joaquin Castro
- Congressman Vicente Gonzalez
- Congresswoman Veronica Escobar
- Congressman Greg Casar
- State Senator Cesar Blanco
- State Senator Carol Alvarado
- State Senator Morgan LaMantia
- State Representative Gina Hinojosa
- State Representative Jessica Gonzalez
- Harris County Commissioner Adrian Garcia
- Harris County Commissioner Lesley Briones
Allred has focused on meeting Tejano Texans where they are throughout his campaign, engaging with local community leaders, Tejano small business owners, and elected officials. Allred is currently airing Opiniónes on Ted Cruz’s efforts to raise the retirement age and cut Medicare on Spanish TV and digital across the state. In a little over a month, Allred made more than 50 stops in 22 cities while traveling nearly 5,000 miles.
