Allred Celebrates Record Number of Americans Signing Up for 2024 Coverage through the ACA Marketplace

Dallas, TX — Today, Congressman Colin Allred released the following statement celebrating the news of a record 19 million Americans signing up for 2024 health care insurance coverage through the ACA Marketplace:

Ensuring Texans can access quality, affordable health care is one of my top priorities, and will continue to be when I am in the Senate. I am thrilled to see so many folks have been able to get the health coverage they need for the coming year through the ACA Marketplace. “Despite our state having the highest uninsured rate in the nation, Ted Cruz still wants to repeal the ACA and rip coverage from millions of Texans. Texas families cannot afford six more years of Ted Cruz representing us in the Senate.”

The Affordable Care Act protects health care access for the 5 million Texans living with pre-existing conditions and provides insurance coverage for nearly 2.5 million Texans.

Allred has long championed measures to strengthen and build upon the ACA, including by lowering insurance premiums, bringing down the cost of prescription drugs, and capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month for patients on Medicare. Ted Cruz has tried for years to dismantle the ACA – and just last month reiterated his desire to do so.
