ICYMI: Allred Joins Civil Rights Hero Dr. Opal Lee to Commemorate Juneteenth in Dallas

DALLAS – On Wednesday, June 19, Congressman Colin Allred joined Dr. Opal Lee’s Annual Walk for Freedom at the African American Museum of Dallas in commemoration of Juneteenth. Following the walk, Allred delivered remarks celebrating the progress made since news of liberation reached Texas 159 years ago today.

He also acknowledged this week’s tragedy at the Round Rock Juneteenth celebrations as a somber symbol of the work that still needs to be done to ensure every Texan can celebrate free from the fear of gun violence. Allred would become the first African-American to represent Texas in the U.S. Senate.
